The choice extraction solvents a desired pharmacological activity is poorly characterized. Objectives: present study compared the use different extract phytoconstituents, evaluate cytotoxicity anti-obesity activities. Methods: Leaves, bark, flowers or tubers fourteen commonly utilized plants in Lankan Ayurvedic system were used prepare extracts distilled water (DW), ethanol n-hexane. Phytochemical screening, total phenolic flavonoid contents (TPC TFC), triglyceride assays performed. Results: DW served as best solvent highest yield phytochemicals followed by marking hexane least efficient solvent. (WE) Averrhoa bilimbi leaves (EE) Cassia auriculata showed TPC. TFC was lowest (HE) all plants. WE ≥75% cell viability below 500 μg/mL with no potential anti-adipogenic activity. EE Justicia adhathoda maximum lipid inhibition (88.31%), Aerva lanata (74.65%), Cyperus rotundus (74.04%) at 100 μg/mL. Ipomoea aquatica (45.11%), Murrya koenigii (41.04%), Hemidesmus indicus (32.97%) viable anti-adiposity 50 Conclusion: most provided greater phytoconstituents enabling their safe usage higher doses during medication. Ethanol better constituents responsible anti-adipogenesis possible correlation found between content anti-adiposity. Antioxidant, Metal Chelating, Anti-glucosidase Activities and Phytochemical Analysis of Selected Tropical Medicinal Plants
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the antioxidant potentials and anti-glucosidase activities of six tropical medicinal plants. The levels of phenolic constituents in these medicinal plants were also quantified and compared. Antioxidation potentials were determined colorimetrically for scavenging activities against DPPH and NO radicals. Metal chelating assay was based on the mea...
